Improvement in organization

Since 2008 the growth of the Vietnam economy has continued to decline down from 10% in 2008 to 5.5% in 2012. Reduced public investment and a frozen real estate market have hit the construction industry hard. However, Coteccons has  maintained its sustainable growth and stability. Coteccons turnover, profit and employee salaries have all increased in this period. Coteccons is now one of the top 100 most taxpayers in Vietnam. As one of the best construction companies, Coteccons is frequently selected as the main contractor for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects such as the Hyatt and Ho Tram Strip and manages the foreign sub-contractors from Japan, Singapore and China.  In order to achieve such remarkable success, Coteccons Board of General Directors and Directors has set up appropriate business strategies as well as improved management systems to match the requirement of each period of development.

I. Organizational structure

1. Construction Division

At present, Coteccons has fiveconstruction divisions. Each division has its own assigned annual business plan. Division Directors directly manage and operate the projects and target new works to fulfill the company business plans. This initiative makes each division become more responsible for their own section of works.  

2. Technical Division consists of the following departments:  

  • Tender Department
  • Cost and Contract Management Department
  • Engineering Management & Technology

The restructuring of the Technical Division with specialized departments is to control the success of every project: tender at competitive prices, profitable consultancy, best management and construction from the original design, safe and efficient working methods, rapid technical solutions and strict supervision for high quality finishes work and on time schedule. Coteccons has been the main contractor for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects in which we have managed foreign sub-contractors from Japan, Singapore, China who have been carrying out finishing works. The establishment of the new Finishing Department was timely for this phase of the company’s business. Cost and Contract Management Department has responsibility to check the legality of purchase contracts, to negotiate and agree prices with suppliers and sub-contractors after tender, and to control the cost at sites for maximizing the profit.

3. M&E Division

  • M&E Management and Performance Department

    Coteccons not only specializes in construction and completion of construction projects but also in Mechanical& Electrical work. In general, Mechanical &Electrical works contributed 25-30% of company revenue. With capacity in design, building, finishing and M&E works, Coteccons is now entrusted by investors to be the main contractor on many projects.

4. Additionally, Coteccons has further departments to complete the organization structure:

  • Board of Assistants to General Director
  • Human Resource Department
  • Health and Safety Department
  • Board of ISO and Legislation
  • Business Development Department

5. Design Center

Coteccons is not only a general contractor but also a Design and Build contractor in many projects financed by local and overseas investors. Thus, the establishment of our Design Center is an essential factor to serve this important business target.

6. Infrastructure Division

With a growing population of over 90 million and an infrastructure in need of big investment to meet 21st Century requirements, Vietnam construction has much work to do in the infrastructure segment. At present, Coteccons is one of the nation’s leading civil and industrial construction company. After establishing the man power for the Infrastructure Division, Coteccons now officially enters this challenging market with good potential.

II. Improving the investment and development of Plant, Equipment and Storage Facilities

1. Equipment Investment and Improvement: To meet the high technical requirements of construction, the company has continuously invested in equipment such as:  

  • Application of advanced formwork systems, e.g. Doka (Austria), aluminum formwork (Korea), climbing external scaffolding.  These have resulted in time and cost reductions as well as improving site quality and safety.
  • Over 35 imported and certified tower cranes.
  • Research and development of effective methods to achieve efficient concrete pumping in high-rise buildings to ensure quality, time and cost effectiveness.
  • Professional maintenance teams to carry out all maintenance works to comply with technical procedures.  

 2. Warehouse Storage Facilities  

  • Proper storage facilities have been invested into and upgraded in order to maintain the quality and availability of equipment.
  • Improving and maximizing the use of Binh Duong warehouse which has a total area of 24,000 m2.
  • Investing in warehouse storage facilities of 3,000 m2 in Danangand 6,000 m2 in Bac Ninh.
  • Stringent procedures have been established and implemented for the effective management and use of all the equipment.
